Regarding the start of school next week (15.3.21)
We are very pleased to announce that on Monday March 15th 2021 ALL pupils can return to school.
There are new arrangements for the drop off and collection of older pupils (KS2). All of these plans have been agreed by the Local Authority’s Health & Safety team.
Drop Off of Pupils
All Key Stage 2 pupils (as well as year 2 pupils in Class 3, from 15.3.21) will enter the school each morning by using the gate on the Arnold Street Steps.
The drop off start times are as follows:
Class 3 Pupils – Miss Hawkins class
will enter school between 9.00 to 9.10am (Arnold Street Steps)
Class 4 Pupils – Mr Young’s class
all enter school between 9.00 – 9.10am (Arnold Street Steps)
Class 5 Pupils – Mrs Gowen’s class
will enter school between 8.50 and 9.00am (Arnold Street Steps)
Class 6 Pupils – Mr Topping’s class
will enter school between 8.50am – 9.00am (Arnold Street Steps)
This is a rolling entry system designed to eliminate queues or gatherings. Please do not arrive earlier than the allocated times as this could lead to a queue or gathering. If you feel that a particular time is rather busy then you are allowed to arrive at a slightly later time within the allocated timescale. A member of staff will be standing at the door to welcome the children in to school.
Collection of pupils
Class 3 pupils – Miss Hawkin’s class
will be collected from the top of the steps on the middle yard at 3.20pm
Parents/carers will need to ENTER the school by the Main Gate (top of London Street) then proceed to the steps that lead to the bottom yard, forming a queue towards the collection point on the middle yard. From this point the class teacher will be able to see the parent/carer and direct the child to them. Parents/carers will then have to EXIT school by the Nursery Gate. This video will explain the process.
Class 4 pupils – Mr Young’s class
will be collected from the door located by the Arnold Street Steps at 3.25pm
Parents/carers will need to ENTER the school by the Main Gate (top of London Street) then head towards the school door on Arnold Street Steps forming a queue down the steps and along the front of the school building. From this point the class teacher will be able to see the parent/carer and direct the child to them. Parents/carers will then have to EXIT school by the Arnold Street Steps gate. This video will explain the process.
As nearly all of Class 5 and Class 6 pupils walk home by themselves, then Class 5 & 6 pupils will leave school using the Arnold Street Steps gate at 3.15pm
We thank you for your support with this process and will evaluate its effectiveness in due course. Please remember that it is statutory for parents/carers to wear a mask whilst dropping off or collecting the children.
If you have any queries regarding this process, or in relation to your child’s/children’s return to school, then please phone the school on 01443 473730.
Also, please note that this week’s virtual Friday assembly will focus on routines and practices to support the children with their return to school. This will help with any anxieties that the children may have and give them an opportunity to ask any questions. All Key Stage 2 teachers will be in the assembly to answer any questions.
